Memories And Stories - Page 4

Dear Trish,
We were so sad to hear of your family's loss. Although we didn't know your family for a very long time, we do remember all of you with fond memories. Your family was always very kind to us and we enjoyed the times we spent together. Adele and I remember your mom and dad very well. Adele and I agree that our most vivid recollection of her is her smile that so beautifully complimented her good nature. She was always happy and a pleasure to be around. I remember on time when she got angry about something your dad did or said and he recognizing her anger said something to her that was witty and funny and your mom just started to laugh. It was over; she just couldn't stay angry for any length of time. It just wasn't in her nature. Isn't that odd how something like that stuck in my mind after all these years? I guess it made an impression on me because it was unexpected. I had never heard her say a harsh word and I was so relieved to see her laugh again.

We also remember that she always took pride in her appearance. She was always neat and well groomed and your dad was the first one to compliment her and tell her how pretty she looked. Your mom would laugh and give him a coy look but I know she liked hearing that from your dad. And he, being a smart and sensitive man, knew what made your mom happy.

We rummaged through our unorganized photo albums and came up with a few pictures for you. They are old and faded but I hope they bring a smile to your face and warmth to your hearts.

I'm so sorry for not responding earlier, but we also had to go through the grieving process before sitting down to write this brief note. I plan on calling your dad next week, but don't worry I won't mention anything about the memory book. Thank you for remembering us and giving us the opportunity to revisit the good old days that we enjoyed with our dear friends, the Wendelkens. God bless all of you.
         - Adele and Chick
