MIG Welder

My choice for a welding outfit was the Campbell Hausfeld WG3060 which is capable of 105 amps @ 20% duty cycle. As it comes in the box, it is ready for flux cored wire welding or argon gas MIG welding. I could have gone with a cheaper machine if I didn't want the argon gas option, but decided that this was a case where I didn't want to get less tool than my future needs might dictate.

In truth, my interest in welding came from watching TLC's Junkyard Wars and I have been inspired by some of the outrageous inventions that people can make in just ten hours, out of scrap no less! Although my immediate shop needs don't require any welding, it is good to know that when I want to start making car repairs or boat trailers and the like, I'll have the machine for the job. Meanwhile, I'm having fun learning to make good welds with scraps.

So far I haven't had much time to devote to this part of my metalworking madness. Thus I won't be able to provide any experiences or recommendations on this tool. Maybe more later.
