The Metal Rack and Stock

This is a metal rack I made using scrap lumber and is loosely based on a design in Dave Gingery's Shop Notebook 1 pp. 17-21. My metal stock so far has come from Online Metals Home Depot, and the Potomac Metals, Inc. recycling company in Sterling, VA who allow public scavenging on Saturday mornings. A metal rack is perfect for sorting all the different sizes and types of metal, and helps to keep the delicate items (especially 0.125" pipe) out of harm's way.

I really enjoy working 360 Brass because of its easy working properties, excellent clean finish and its gold-like appearance. The rest of the stock is mostly 6061-T6 aluminum, cold-rolled and hot-rolled steel, W-1 and A-2 drill rod. There is also polycarb, plexiglass and delrin.
